HVAC Technician

About the role

The HVAC Technician joins the Engineering Department at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi, a 5-star luxury hotel. The role covers the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning units, including air handling, chilled water distribution, refrigeration and environmental control systems. It also involves planning jobs and long-term operations, preventive maintenance programs and the quality of repair work. The technician reports to the Assistant Manager - Maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and monitor all HVAC and related equipment within the hotel
• Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedules
• Maintain plant rooms and equipment premises in a safe and presentable condition
• Complete work orders according to HotSoS procedures and identify the need for major repairs
• Maintain, repair, check and record equipment such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, motors and VRF/split AC units
• Follow Lockout/Tagout and PTW procedures and keep records of work, P/M schedules and work order logs
• Coordinate with contractors and other departments for installations and repairs
• Review plans and specifications for contracted work and inspect external contractors' work
• Operate Building Automation Systems (BAS) and assemble components to required standards

Required profile

• Previous experience in the same role in a luxury property; resort experience is a plus
• Good understanding of hotel operations and general civil works
• Fluent English and strong communication skills

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls and preventive maintenance practices
• Predictive maintenance and maintenance software applications
• Ability to resolve engineering issues using theoretical and practical knowledge
