IGW & Fixed Services Monitoring Engineer

About the role

du, the UAE's second licensed telecommunications operator, is looking for an IGW and Fixed Services Monitoring Engineer. The role covers fault management, incident handling and technical support for monitoring teams, with an emphasis on resolving faults within contracted SLAs and keeping the network healthy.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve fault management, customer and carrier complaints, and handle incidents efficiently
• Provide on-time technical support to the monitoring team and escalate issues to second-line operations teams, following up until SLAs are met
• Analyse incident reports proactively to prevent issues and run network health checks, queries and scripts
• Handle daily incidents and TTs according to du's policies and scope of work
• Maintain relationships with internal and external parties until faults are resolved and report progress to the Team Lead and Manager
• Prepare and maintain device documentation manuals and diagrams, monitor vendor performance and write incident reports
• Support new projects and services acceptance from SOC Operations, and plan and execute disaster recovery and network restoration

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Telecom or a relevant engineering stream
• Minimum 6 to 7 years of experience in IGW networks in the telecom industry
• Good customer service skills and the ability to explain technical situations to non-technical people
• Ability to handle multiple complex problems in a stressful environment, with strong teamwork and initiative

Required skills

• Call routing on soft switches and pre/post-digit analysis on class 4 gateways
• SIP protocol, trace analysis and knowledge of fixed voice network service flows
• IP networks and routing protocols; deep knowledge of SIP, SS7, SIGTRAN, H.248 and Q.931
• Network performance KPIs such as ASR, ACD and NER
• Knowledge of the ITIL framework
• Huawei Softswitches (ATCA SoftX3000, ISBC, UMG8900) and U2000 alarm and performance monitoring
• Genband C20/CS2K soft switch, BVS and HIPCC
