Instrumentation & Control Supervisor – Nuclear Power Plant

About the role

The I&C Supervisor will lead instrumentation and control maintenance during refuelling outages for a nuclear power plant in the UAE. The role ensures calibration, testing, disconnection/reconnection and corrective maintenance of all I&C systems across NSSS and BOP, meeting nuclear safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise I&C maintenance teams to complete calibration and maintenance tasks safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.
• Oversee equipment scope including level transmitters, speed/vibration sensors, pressure/flow transmitters, RTDs, solenoid valves, positioners and associated secondary systems.
• Act as Head of I&C Maintenance in the absence of the department head, handling procurement of calibration tools and special equipment.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑job briefings, validate equipment history reports and ensure traceability to NIST standards.
• Lead troubleshooting, support hot functional and performance tests, and drive continuous improvement of work instructions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in nuclear/power‑plant I&C maintenance (not commissioning).
• Completion of required safety courses (confined space, radiation exposure, working at height).
• Strong supervisory and decision‑making abilities under pressure.

Required skills

• Calibration of pressure, flow, level and temperature transmitters (Rosemount, Foxboro).
• Use of Druck and Fluke calibrators.
• Experience with CEDM instrumentation systems (DRCS, HJTC, RSPT).
• Pneumatic instrument systems – positioners, volume boosters, solenoid valves, I/P converters.
• Thermocouple, RTD and speed/vibration sensor calibration and replacement.
• Loop checking procedures and Post Maintenance Testing (PMT).
• Process calibrators, signal simulators, decade boxes and oscilloscopes.
• Proficiency with MS Project and Primavera scheduling tools.
