Internal Auditor - Airline Group

About the role

Air Arabia Group is looking for an Internal Auditor based in Sharjah, UAE. The role covers audit reviews according to approved schedules, evaluates and recommends ways to improve internal controls over systems and tools, and advises stakeholders on risk minimisation and protection of the company's interests. It calls for a solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, system environments and airline business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing risk-based annual audit plans and conduct operational, financial, compliance and IT audits across departments such as Flight Operations, Engineering & Maintenance, Ground Operations, Commercial, Finance, HR and Procurement.
• Perform audits in line with IIA standards and company policies, preparing audit programmes, carrying out fieldwork and documenting working papers.
• Identify control weaknesses and recommend practical improvements, and assess compliance with aviation regulations, corporate governance frameworks and company policies, SOPs and contracts.
• Evaluate internal control systems, enterprise risk management and fraud risk, and investigate suspected irregularities when required.
• Draft audit reports with findings, risk ratings and recommendations, discuss them with process owners and follow up on corrective actions.
• Advise management on process enhancements, take part in system implementation reviews and new business initiatives, and audit subsidiaries and affiliated companies.
• Evaluate intercompany transactions and group-level controls, and promote a strong internal control and risk awareness culture.

Required profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent (CPA, ACCA).
• 4-5 years of experience in internal audit in a service industry, preferably airlines or aviation.
• CIA certificate or similar is highly desirable; professional membership in the aviation industry is an advantage.
• Advanced English; Arabic is a plus.
