Junior Instrument and Control Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Graduate Instrument & Control Engineer to join its Engineering team in Abu Dhabi. The role offers exposure to design, documentation and field activities on high‑profile energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support I&C design tasks such as instrument selection, sizing, datasheets and control philosophy preparation.
• Create and review I&C documentation including hook‑up drawings, cable schedules, instrument indexes, cause‑and‑effect diagrams and I/O lists.
• Assist with interdisciplinary coordination with Process, Mechanical, Electrical and Piping teams.
• Participate in site surveys, instrument inspections, loop checks and commissioning support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Basic understanding of instrumentation principles, sensors, control systems, PLCs and DCS.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA, IEC, NEC and API.
• Experience with engineering software tools like SPI/INtools and AutoCAD.
• Basic knowledge of PLC/DCS configuration and loop diagram development.
