Junior Research Scientist – Survey Data & Social Experiments

About the role

The Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES) at New York University Abu Dhabi is looking for a Junior Research Scientist to support research on survey data, social‑science experiments, misinformation, artificial intelligence and social networks. The role involves collaborating with social scientists to analyse data, design studies and contribute to scholarly publications.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and manage large‑scale survey datasets.
• Assist in designing and implementing follow‑up research projects and social‑science experiments.
• Perform statistical analyses and visualisations using R.
• Contribute to the writing of academic papers, research reports and other scholarly outputs.
• Support day‑to‑day research activities and team coordination.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a social‑science discipline (master’s preferred).
• Less than five years of research experience.
• Experience working with survey data and familiarity with experimental methods.
• Strong computational, analytical and data‑management abilities.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Required skills

• Proficiency in R for data analysis.
