Kitchen and Laundry Technician

About the role

The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah is hiring a full-time Kitchen and Laundry Technician (non-management, engineering and facilities category) to respond to guest repair requests and keep the property running smoothly. The position is based at the hotel in Ras Al Khaimah.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests and communicate with guests and customers about maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines.
• Carry equipment such as tools and radios, and identify, locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies, and share daily activities and problems with other shifts.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters, then clean up the work area.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
• Program TVs, do general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and sprinklers, and enter air handler schedules and make temperature changes on a computer.
• Welcome guests, anticipate their needs, assist people with disabilities and follow safety, security and company policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting; hotel engineering or maintenance experience is a plus.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Driver's license required.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry and kitchen equipment.
• Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules.
