Lab Technician - Nursing Simulation

About the role

Dubai Medical University is hiring a Lab Technician in Dubai to support nursing education through the setup and maintenance of nursing labs and simulation environments. The role covers preparing practical classes, assessments and OSCEs, maintaining equipment and simulators, and supporting faculty and students.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare nursing labs and simulation environments for practical classes, assessments and OSCEs, and ensure mannequins, task trainers, diagnostic tools and teaching aids are functional and clean before sessions.
• Assist faculty in demonstrating procedures and setting up high- or low-fidelity clinical scenarios, and help create immersive simulation scenarios aligned with the curriculum.
• Support students and instructors during practical sessions and provide real-time troubleshooting of equipment and simulators.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment, teaching materials and consumables, monitor usage and coordinate timely replenishment.
• Inspect, calibrate and maintain simulators and lab equipment, keep service logs and manuals, and coordinate with vendors for maintenance and procurement.
• Ensure lab operations comply with safety standards, health regulations and infection control guidelines, and reinforce safety rules with students and faculty.
• Help design assessment stations, lab manuals and demonstration guides, and support accreditation and quality assurance documentation.
• Keep records of lab usage, attendance, equipment loans and skill checklists, and take part in departmental meetings and training sessions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BScN) is mandatory.
• Valid nursing license (e.g. DHA, MOH or DOH) or eligibility for one.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse; prior academic or simulation lab experience is an advantage.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Strong clinical and procedural skills, with hands-on experience with clinical lab equipment, simulators and electronic systems.
• Installation, calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of lab equipment.
• Computer literacy, including record keeping and lab management software.
• Ability to follow and enforce safety standards and SOPs.
