Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer – Greenfield

About the role

KBR Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer to drive engineering activities for ADNOC Offshore greenfield and brownfield projects. The role will be based in Abu Dhabi, working on offshore oil & gas developments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the instrumentation, control, automation, telecom and safety system engineering from FEED through start‑up.
• Coordinate deliverables with process, mechanical, electrical, civil, telecom and HSE disciplines.
• Develop and review instrument indexes, datasheets, I/O lists, hook‑up drawings, cable schedules and wiring diagrams.
• Oversee DCS, ESD, fire‑gas, PLC, SCADA and ICSS engineering, including architecture reviews and cybersecurity assessments.
• Support functional safety activities (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL verification) and ensure compliance with IEC 61508/61511.
• Manage procurement technical requisitions, vendor evaluations, FAT participation and construction/commissioning support.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of instrumentation and control engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a lead role.
• Extensive FEED and EPC experience on offshore oil & gas projects, especially ADNOC Offshore.
• Proven experience with greenfield offshore developments and GCC projects.

Required skills

• DCS platforms (Yokogawa, Honeywell, Emerson, ABB, Siemens).
• ESD, fire‑gas, PLC, SCADA and Integrated Control & Safety Systems (ICSS).
• Instrument selection for hazardous offshore environments (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers, control valves, safety devices).
• Process safety standards (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, IEC 61508/61511).
• Telecom integration (PA/GA, telephone, radio, CCTV, LAN/WAN, fiber optics).
