Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer

About the role

KBR is seeking a Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer to direct I&C engineering for on‑shore and off‑shore oil & gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role covers the full project lifecycle—from concept studies and FEED to detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning—acting as the technical authority for instrumentation, automation, and functional safety.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all I&C engineering deliverables, ensuring technical integrity, safety, reliability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Develop execution strategies, work plans, resource forecasts and schedule discipline deliverables.
• Mentor and manage a team of engineers and designers, coordinating with process, mechanical, electrical and other disciplines.
• Conduct offshore and on‑shore site surveys, brownfield assessments, and feasibility studies to gather data for design.
• Oversee functional safety lifecycle activities, including SIL determination, safety requirement specifications and compliance with IEC 61508/61511.
• Support procurement, construction, FAT/SAT, commissioning and start‑up, resolving technical issues and managing change.

Required profile

• Minimum 17 years of I&C engineering experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or LNG sectors.
• At least 8–10 years in a senior or lead engineering role, with proven delivery of offshore and on‑shore brownfield and greenfield projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics or related engineering discipline.
• Valid OPITO‑approved T‑BOSIET/BOSIET and H₂S certifications (minimum six months validity) preferred.
