Lead Technical Safety Engineer (Offshore)

About the role

Lead Technical Safety Engineer (Offshore) will lead, direct and oversee all Technical Safety Engineering activities for on‑shore and off‑shore oil & gas developments across the full project lifecycle, from concept studies through FEED to detailed engineering. The role acts as the discipline technical authority, ensuring safe, reliable, maintainable and cost‑effective solutions that meet client requirements, standards and project schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and validate calculations, data sheets, specifications, drawings and other deliverables for process safety engineering.
• Coordinate and supervise safety engineering teams, acting as the single point of contact for project‑wide safety activities.
• Lead and facilitate workshops such as PHA, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LOPA and follow up on recommendations.
• Design hazardous‑area classification, fire‑protection systems, fire‑water networks, pump and tank sizing, fixed fire‑water spray, foam and gaseous firefighting systems, and fire‑gas detection systems in accordance with IEC, NFPA, API and other standards.
• Review third‑party safety studies (QRA, FERA, fire‑and‑gas mapping) and supervise technical procurement, material take‑off and bid evaluation.

Required profile

• Minimum 17 years of Technical Safety Engineering experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG or energy sectors.
• 8‑10 years in a lead or senior engineering role delivering offshore and on‑shore brownfield and greenfield projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive knowledge of ADNOC project practices and technical standards.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of international standards: API, IEC, ISA, NFPA, NACE, BS EN and ADNOC requirements.
• Proficiency with safety analysis software such as PHAST, Flare Sim, PIPENET and DNV PHAST.
• Expertise in hazardous‑area classification, fire‑protection design and fire‑water system sizing.
• Experience reviewing QRA, FERA and other third‑party safety studies.
