Learning Support Teacher / Assistant

About the role

Greenwood International School is looking for a Learning Support Teacher / Assistant (Inclusion Teacher) to support and promote inclusive education for all students, including those with special needs or disabilities. The role works with classroom teachers, administrators and support staff to create a supportive environment that ensures the academic and social success of every student.

Key responsibilities

• Work with classroom teachers to plan and deliver inclusive instruction and take part in IEP meetings, advising on accommodations and modifications.
• Adapt curriculum materials and use evidence-based strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs, monitor progress and adjust interventions.
• Develop and implement behaviour management plans and work with school counselors and behaviour specialists.
• Stay current on inclusive education best practice, special education law and assistive technologies, and take part in professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field, with a recognised postgraduate qualification in Special Education.
• At least two years of teaching experience, preferably in an inclusive school, supporting students with learning difficulties, autism, ADHD and other additional learning needs.
• Experience developing, implementing and reviewing IEPs, and conducting educational observations and informal assessments.
• Experience delivering pull-out and push-in support and collaborating with subject teachers in mainstream classrooms.
• Knowledge of positive behaviour support and strategies to build communication, independence and social-emotional skills.
• Strong English, report writing, organisation and digital skills; Arabic is an advantage.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience in a UAE school and familiarity with local inclusion expectations.
• Experience supporting students across grade levels and guiding Learning Support Assistants.
• Additional training in structured literacy, autism support or behaviour interventions.
