Mechanical Technician – Hotel Engineering

About the role

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join its Engineering team. You will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing the hotel’s mechanical systems, primarily focusing on HVAC, refrigeration, motors and pumps.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration equipment including heat pumps, AHUs, FCUs, split and package units, and cold rooms.
• Replace and align motors, blower bearings, fan bearings and other mechanical components.
• Perform motor and pump servicing – dismantling, bearing replacement, lubrication, vibration checks and re‑assembly.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in HVAC systems and carry out corrective actions.
• Handle refrigerant – leak detection, pressure checks and charging as required.
• Respond promptly to guest room and public area HVAC complaints.
• Coordinate with the engineering team during shutdowns, refurbishments and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, job logs and reports in line with hotel standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years hands‑on experience in a luxury hotel engineering department, specifically with HVAC and refrigeration.
• Physically fit and capable of handling mechanical tools and equipment.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and emergency call‑outs.

Required skills

• Strong practical knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration cycles.
• Experience replacing motors, blower bearings, fan bearings and servicing pumps.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting of control circuits, contactors, relays, sensors and thermostats.
• Refrigerant handling, leak detection and charging.
• Familiarity with BMS monitoring and controls (preferred).
