Medical Laboratory Technologist – Anatomical Pathology

About the role

The National Reference Laboratory (NRL) within the M42 network is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join its Anatomical Pathology team. The role supports histopathology services through accurate specimen handling, tissue processing, and strict adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and accession tissue specimens while maintaining full traceability.
• Perform gross examination and dissection of low‑ to medium‑complexity specimens under supervision.
• Prepare and process tissue samples for histopathology testing, including fixation and handling.
• Label, document, and track specimens, tissue blocks, and slides accurately.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in line with quality, safety, and infection‑control standards.
• Support compliance with ISO 15189, CAP, JCI, EIAC and other laboratory regulations.
• Maintain laboratory records and contribute to quality‑assurance and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science or related field.
• Valid DOH license or eligibility to obtain licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
• Experience in histopathology or anatomical pathology laboratory services.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tissue processing and specimen handling techniques.
• Familiarity with histopathology laboratory procedures.
• Understanding of ISO 15189, CAP and JCI quality standards.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
