Medical Scribe – Health Information Management (UAE National)

About the role

The Medical Scribe supports physicians by documenting patient encounters in real time, ensuring accurate and complete medical records within the electronic health record system. The role is essential for maintaining high‑quality clinical documentation and improving workflow efficiency in an acute care setting.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany physicians during patient visits and enter real‑time interactions into the EHR.
• Prepare and assemble medical charts before and after patient encounters.
• Transcribe patient histories, examinations, procedures, lab results and physician observations accurately.
• Produce and proofread discharge summaries, operative reports, cardiology, EEG, pathology and other medico‑legal documents.
• Interpret medical slang, abbreviations and dictation styles, ensuring correct terminology and spelling.
• Clarify unclear dictation by consulting physicians, nursing units or ancillary departments.
• Submit transcribed reports for physician review, signature and insertion into the patient record.
• Identify and resolve inconsistencies, duplicate records and documentation errors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in health information management or a related field, or a diploma with at least three years of relevant experience.
• UAE national with 2–4 years of medical transcription experience in an acute‑care hospital setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EHR systems and medical recording software.
• Fast and accurate typing (60–80 words per minute).
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, diagnoses and procedures.
