On‑Site Services Machinist

About the role

The On‑Site Services Machinist will support GE Vernova’s power‑generation customers by performing on‑site machining of major rotating equipment. The role involves working with GE/Alstom and OEM turbines, travelling globally on short notice, and ensuring safe, high‑quality execution of all tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Execute assignments in line with GE EHS and Quality standards, briefing the crew before work begins.
• Perform de‑blading and re‑blading of steam turbines on‑site according to approved instructions.
• Carry out in‑situ machining operations – milling, boring, flange facing, drilling, grinding and turning – on gas and steam turbine components.
• Operate portable boring bars and other machining equipment to machine turbine casings, bearing housings and diaphragms with precision.
• Lead diaphragm repair jobs, supervise the crew and act as the OSS representative to the customer.
• Plan, prepare, and report on jobs, including tooling preparation, parts ordering and post‑job documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field, or high‑school diploma with equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years of machining experience, preferably on power‑generation equipment and GE/Alstom turbines.
• Willingness to travel up to 90 % of the time, including weekends, holidays and extended outage periods.
• Strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Manual and CNC machine‑tool operation.
• Deblading and reblading of steam turbines.
• Milling, boring, flange facing, drilling, grinding and turning.
• Use of portable boring bars and turbine diaphragm alignment.
• Welding of steam and gas turbine parts (desired).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to read technical instructions in English.
