Operation Theatre Nurse

About the role

Reem Hospital, a leading healthcare institution on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, is seeking an experienced Operation Theatre (OT) Nurse to join its Surgical Services team. The role involves delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality peri‑operative nursing care while supporting surgeons, anesthetists, and the wider surgical team throughout procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare operating theatres, instruments, equipment and supplies before each surgery.
• Assist surgeons, anesthetists and other healthcare professionals during operations.
• Maintain strict infection‑prevention and sterile techniques.
• Conduct pre‑operative and post‑operative patient assessments and provide nursing care.
• Monitor patients throughout the peri‑operative process and report any changes promptly.
• Perform accurate surgical counts of instruments, sponges and consumables.
• Ensure proper functioning of surgical equipment and report malfunctions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments within scope of practice.
• Document patient care activities in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in quality‑improvement, patient‑safety and accreditation initiatives.

Required profile

• Valid DOH Nursing License or eligibility to obtain one.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 2 years recent OT/Peri‑operative nursing experience in an acute‑care hospital.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques and infection‑control standards.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
