Perioperative Staff Nurse – PACU/Prep Recovery

About the role

The Perioperative Staff Nurse will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Post‑Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Prep Recovery areas of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. The role involves applying evidence‑based nursing practices to patients of all ages while supporting their behavioral, developmental, and psychosocial needs.

Key responsibilities

• Complete timely patient admissions, assessments, and update care plans based on individual needs.
• Deliver family‑centered direct care, monitor patient conditions, and document effectiveness of interventions.
• Assess and address educational needs of patients and families, providing culturally appropriate teaching materials.
• Administer prescribed medications using barcode scanning and follow approved treatment protocols.
• Document patient and family understanding of education and care plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification.
• Valid and current national nursing license.
• Minimum two years post‑graduate experience in a general surgery/operating‑room setting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and experience with electronic medical records.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Barcode scanning for medication administration.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) usage.
