Port Captain – Offshore Fleet (MSI)

About the role

The Port Captain / MSI for the Offshore Fleet is the shore-based marine operations, assurance and compliance focal point for a fleet of DP2 accommodation, diving support and other offshore support vessels. The role oversees vessel operational readiness, marine inspections, mobilizations and demobilizations, client requirements, safe navigation and deck operations, crewing readiness and statutory compliance, supporting Vessel Masters and Fleet Management in keeping operations safe, efficient and contract-compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the principal shore-based marine focal point, giving day-to-day guidance to Vessel Masters and senior deck officers and following up on inspection findings and client punch-list items.
• Plan and carry out periodic marine inspections (bridge, navigation, DP readiness, mooring, lifesaving, firefighting, accommodation, security, documentation) and review internal, client, flag/class and audit non-conformities.
• Lead marine coordination of mobilizations and demobilizations, translating project and charter requirements into readiness actions, checklists and manning needs, and attend client kick-offs and acceptance inspections.
• Oversee DP2 vessel operations, coordinate with DP specialists on trials and incidents, and promote bridge resource management and navigation watchkeeping.
• Ensure compliance with the company's Safety Management System, ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC 2006, flag and class requirements, and track statutory and class matters.
• Coordinate with Crewing/HR on adequate manning, crew competencies, STCW and DP qualifications, relief planning and hours-of-rest compliance.
