Post‑Doctoral Associate – Urban Mobility Research

About the role

The Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a post‑doctoral associate to lead interdisciplinary research on urban mobility, including multimodal transportation systems, new vehicle technologies, and the intersection of traffic flow theory with data science.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent high‑level scientific research and publish at least two journal papers within a year.
• Support the research group by planning projects, writing proposals, and leading at least one proposal during the year.
• Assist with execution of ongoing projects, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.
• Contribute to teaching activities, including preparing course materials, conducting labs, delivering lectures, and grading assignments.
• Mentor and support graduate and undergraduate students.

Required profile

• PhD in engineering, computer science, urban science, applied mathematics, or a related field obtained within the last five years.
• Experience in transportation research, especially urban science.
• Excellent English communication skills, strong quantitative abilities, and scientific creativity.
• Ability to collaborate across Center themes such as Fairness and Uncertainty.
