Primary Homeroom Teacher (January 2027 Start)

About the role

Aldar Education is hiring a Primary Homeroom Teacher for Virginia American School, starting in January 2027. The school is part of Aldar's family of schools in Abu Dhabi, which serves over 38,000 students across 31 schools and offers a wide range of curricula.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed, planning engaging sessions that meet curriculum requirements and cater to the whole ability range in the class
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and curriculum support staff, and liaise with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists where needed
• Organise classroom provision and learning resources, create displays and assess children in line with school assessments
• Use assessment data recorded in Target Tracker to inform planning, provision and intervention, and give parents feedback at parent-teacher conferences
• Manage the class according to the school's behaviour policy, maintain good relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model
• Take responsibility for class progress, run a weekly ECA each term, take part in school events and communicate with parents through systems such as CPOMS

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience as a classroom teacher in the American curriculum
• Experience working in more than one international school
• Commitment to the school's vision and values, continuing professional development and child protection and safeguarding

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and organisation skills
• Knowledge of current developments in education
• Ability to teach across the ability range, work under pressure, solve problems and stay resilient
