Principal CAD Designer Mechanical

About the role

The Principal CAD Designer Mechanical will develop, maintain and control mechanical design data packs, manufacturing drawings and harness documentation for Halcon products. This senior position requires advanced expertise in CAD tools, PLM systems and configuration management while supporting engineering development and mentoring junior designers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mechanical CAD models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings and product data packs using Creo and SolidWorks.
• Create harness layouts, documentation and detailed production drawings to support engineering and manufacturing.
• Manage CAD data, revisions, BOMs and Engineering Change Requests/Notices within Windchill PLM.
• Design production tooling, jigs and support equipment.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor junior designers and draughtsmen.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical CAD design, detailing and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience in defence, aerospace or highly regulated industries is preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Creo and SolidWorks (part modelling, assemblies, harnessing, sheet metal, drawing modules).
• Strong knowledge of Windchill PLM.
• Understanding of GD&T, BS 8888 and ISO standards.
• Experience with configuration management processes.
