Principal Engineer – Water & Wastewater

About the role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer specializing in water and wastewater to lead complex projects in Abu Dhabi. The role involves overseeing design, modelling, and construction documentation for large‑scale wastewater networks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design teams, hydraulic modelers and draftsmen in developing collection, conveyance and disposal solutions for wastewater networks.
• Prepare and supervise engineering calculations, material take‑offs, estimates, surveys and detailed design documents.
• Review supplier drawings, technical bids and manage sub‑contractor specifications.
• Produce technical specifications, design reports and utility cross‑sections in line with local Gulf authority regulations.
• Utilize CAD, 3D modelling and specialized software such as Bentley SewerCAD, SewerGems, InfoSWMM and Infoworks CS.

Required profile

• 4‑year civil engineering degree plus a master’s in a water‑related discipline.
• 15‑20 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in the UAE/GCC.
• Proven track record managing small to medium design teams.
• Familiarity with DEWA, ADDC/ADWEA, DM, ADM, DCD, ADCD regulations and British/American codes.

Required skills

• Advanced CAD and 3D modelling.
• Hydraulic modelling and load‑demand calculations.
• Proficiency with Bentley SewerCAD, SewerGems, InfoSWMM and Infoworks CS.
• Preparation of technical specifications and design reports.
• Knowledge of utility cross‑section standards for Gulf authorities.
