Principal Researcher – Policy & Academic Research

About the role

The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government is seeking a Principal Researcher to lead and expand its policy‑focused research agenda. Reporting to the head of department, the successful candidate will design, execute and disseminate high‑impact research that informs government decision‑making and academic discourse.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage original research projects, including planning, fieldwork setup, and progress monitoring.
• Collect, analyse and interpret data, produce policy maps and formulate evidence‑based policy recommendations.
• Author research reports, academic papers and policy briefs for internal and external audiences.
• Supervise junior researchers and support graduate students under senior researcher guidance.
• Identify funding sources and assist in grant applications in coordination with department leadership.
• Maintain and expand relationships with external partners, stakeholders and government officials.
• Present findings at conferences, seminars and other events, and co‑organise research forums.
• Contribute to academic and executive education programmes, including content development and delivery.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
• At least 5 years of research experience with a strong track record of publications.
• UAE nationality.
• Demonstrated ability to lead research projects and work collaboratively with policy makers.
