Project Engineer – Drilling Waste Management & Solids Control

About the role

The Drilling Waste Management (DWM) and Solids Control Equipment (SCE) Project Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of solids‑control systems at well sites. The role requires an in‑depth understanding of how drilling fluids interact with waste‑management technologies and the ability to troubleshoot advanced equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain all solids‑control equipment (shale shakers, centrifuges, desanders, desilters, high‑dryers, etc.) on offshore and onshore rigs.
• Perform equipment surveys, specify materials, and supervise installation and rig‑up of solids‑control systems.
• Provide technical support, conduct field audits, and deliver training to oil‑field customers.
• Execute cost estimates, analysis, and reporting of daily solids‑control performance.
• Ensure compliance with Quality, HSE, and IT standards, including risk analysis (JSA) and use of PPE.

Required profile

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of drilling fluids, waste‑management systems, and rig operations.
• Valid HSE certifications and ability to conduct safety meetings.
• Physical strength to perform heavy manual labour for extended periods.
• Experience supervising field service technicians and working in remote locations.

Required skills

• Operation and troubleshooting of solids‑control equipment (shale shakers, centrifuges, desanders, desilters, high‑dryers, screw conveyors, pumps).
• Electrical safety, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and grounding techniques for high/low‑voltage equipment.
• Drilling fluid testing, data collection, and daily reporting.
• Inventory management and discharge‑volume tracking.
• Cost estimation, technical support, and field service supervision.
