R&D Chemist – Powder Coating

About the role

As an R&D Chemist you will develop and maintain powder coating products by preparing, testing and evaluating coatings, binders and raw materials. You will support the R&D strategy and enhance technical competence across the organization through data‑driven development and knowledge transfer.

Key responsibilities

• Own and drive assigned products, assets and projects end‑to‑end, including planning, formulation, testing, validation and documentation.
• Execute projects independently and coordinate larger tasks to meet timelines, quality targets and provide technical recommendations based on data.
• Support compliance with internationally accepted performance and certification requirements through robust test planning, execution and interpretation.
• Contribute to new global/regional innovation projects with a focus on sustainability‑driven developments.
• Coach junior chemists and technicians, ensuring knowledge transfer and competence building.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSEQ requirements and governance for raw materials, formulations and test documentation.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification with minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong technical knowledge of coating formulation, preferably powder coatings, including binder systems and curing chemistries.
• Experience with performance validation (weathering, corrosion, accelerated testing) and knowledge of internationally accepted test methods and standards.
• Proven ability to manage tasks and projects independently with strong structure and follow‑up.
• Proficient in verbal and written English.
