Registered Nurse – Long Term Care Unit

About the role

The Royal Khalifa City Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Long Term Care Unit. The role involves delivering safe, compassionate, and individualized care to patients throughout their stay, while collaborating closely with physicians and allied health professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and monitor individualized care plans, and document findings in the electronic medical record.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and specialized treatments while monitoring for adverse reactions.
• Provide wound care, manage catheters, tubes, and nutrition support (enteral and parenteral).
• Operate and adjust advanced equipment such as mechanical ventilators, BIPAP/CPAP, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, wound VAC, and cooling blankets.
• Assist physicians with procedures including lumbar puncture, central line insertion, and intercostal drain placement.
• Support patients during haemodialysis sessions and deliver post‑acute rehabilitation and palliative care as needed.

Required profile

• Current registration as a nurse with the UAE health authority and a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support card.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written; Arabic proficiency is desirable.
• Willingness to work across departments and maintain professional re‑licensure.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation.
• Mechanical ventilation and non‑invasive ventilation (BIPAP, CPAP) management.
• Operation of cardiac monitors, syringe/infusion/feeding pumps, blood warmers, wound VAC, cooling blankets, and patient warmers.
• Assistance with lumbar puncture, central line and intercostal drain procedures.
• Management of suprapubic and Foley catheters, nasogastric/jejunal tubes, total parenteral nutrition, and enteral feeding.
• Support for haemodialysis and documentation using electronic medical records.
