Registered Nurse – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

About the role

The Royal Khalifa City Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role involves delivering safe, compassionate, and individualized care to newborns and supporting their families throughout the hospital stay.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized care plans for neonates in collaboration with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.
• Operate and monitor NICU equipment such as incubators, ventilators, radiant warmers, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors and phototherapy devices.
• Perform neonatal screening tests, initial stabilization, and ongoing monitoring of vital signs, glucose, and respiratory status.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, Total Parenteral Nutrition and phototherapy, while observing for adverse reactions.
• Assist with invasive procedures including intubation, central line insertion, and surgical support.
• Provide education and emotional support to parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, immunizations and emergency response.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and ensure equipment decontamination according to infection‑control standards.

Required profile

• Valid nursing license to practice in the UAE and a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English (spoken and written); Arabic proficiency is desirable.
• Willingness to work across departments and collaborate within an inter‑professional team.
• Demonstrated organizational skills for EMR documentation and inventory management.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and proficiency with NICU equipment.
• IV therapy, Total Parenteral Nutrition administration, and blood product transfusion.
• Neonatal screening (metabolic, audiometry) and newborn anthropometric measurement.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation.
