Research Data Scientist

About the role

The Zayed Center for Health Sciences seeks a Research Data Scientist to join the multidisciplinary team behind the Mutaba'ah Study, the UAE's largest prospective mother‑and‑child cohort. You will manage and analyse extensive epidemiological and healthcare datasets, supporting research that informs maternal and child health policy.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance large longitudinal research databases and data repositories.
• Develop and apply data quality assurance, validation, and governance procedures.
• Integrate data from electronic medical records, questionnaires, laboratory systems, and other sources.
• Support the study data warehouse and ensure compliance with privacy and security standards.
• Perform data cleaning, transformation, and preprocessing; create derived variables and analytical datasets.
• Build reproducible workflows, generate descriptive reports, dashboards, and visualisations.
• Assist advanced statistical, machine learning, and predictive modelling projects.
• Document data dictionaries, metadata, mapping documents, and SOPs; support investigators and collaborators in data access.
• Contribute to scientific outputs such as reports, conference presentations, and peer‑reviewed publications.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in data science, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a related field.
• Experience working with large‑scale health or epidemiological datasets.
• Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and security requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinicians, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and AI specialists.
