Research Scientist – PDEs & Mathematical Fluid Dynamics

About the role

The Division of Science (Mathematics) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Research Scientist to lead independent and collaborative investigations in partial differential equations, mathematical fluid dynamics and related areas of mathematical physics.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct original research on nonlinear PDEs, fluid dynamics, KAM theory, hyperbolic systems, kinetic equations and plasma physics.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
• Participate actively in departmental seminars, working groups and other scientific activities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Mathematics.
• At least six years of post‑doctoral research experience with a strong publication record.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a research team.

Required skills

• Expertise in nonlinear partial differential equations.
• Knowledge of mathematical fluid dynamics and vortex dynamics.
• Experience with KAM theory and dynamical systems.
• Familiarity with hyperbolic systems, kinetic equations and plasma physics.
