Resident Engineer – Bridges/Tunnels

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Resident Engineer to lead and oversee bridge and tunnel construction on a major infrastructure project in the UAE. The role involves site supervision, coordination with contractors and project teams, and ensuring delivery to approved specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site supervision team for bridge, tunnel, and associated infrastructure works.
• Supervise bridge construction activities including foundations, piling, pile caps, abutments, piers, retaining walls, decks, bearings, expansion joints and barriers.
• Supervise tunnel construction activities such as excavation, structural works, concrete, waterproofing, drainage, backfilling and related structures.
• Review contractor submissions (method statements, shop drawings, material submittals) and monitor progress, quality and compliance.
• Coordinate with contractors, designers, surveyors and other disciplines to resolve technical and site issues.
• Monitor interfaces with roads, earthworks, utilities, drainage and other infrastructure.
• Ensure proper inspection, testing, commissioning and documentation throughout construction and close‑out.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years experience supervising major bridge and tunnel projects.
• Strong knowledge of bridge and tunnel construction methods, inspection, testing and quality requirements.
• Experience managing site supervision teams and coordinating with contractors and stakeholders.
• UAE experience on large infrastructure projects is preferred.
