Resident Engineer – Construction Site Leadership

About the role

AECOM is seeking a detail‑oriented Resident Engineer to act as the on‑site representative for a major infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. You will bridge the gap between design intent and field execution, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular on‑site inspections of workmanship, materials, and construction activities to verify adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
• Supervise and coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and laborers to maintain efficient project execution and timeline compliance.
• Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and change orders promptly.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, inspection logs, and technical records.
• Identify and resolve technical issues on‑site, implementing innovative solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project managers to ensure transparent communication.
• Monitor project budgets and schedules, reporting variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure strict compliance with UAE building codes, safety regulations, environmental standards, and local requirements.
• Perform material testing and quality‑assurance activities to verify compliance.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Support sustainable construction practices and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
