Retail Architect – Design Review & LOD Specialist

About the role

The Retail Architect is responsible for reviewing architectural submissions and producing Lease Outline Drawings (LODs) that meet retail‑specific design criteria. Working under the Design Manager, the role ensures compliance, accuracy, and coordination across multiple project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings submitted to the Design Review Team against the retail asset‑specific design criteria and checklists.
• Create Lease Outline Drawings (LODs) from shell‑and‑core drawings with minimal guidance, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct physical site visits and on‑site inspections to verify that as‑built conditions match approved designs and to produce snag reports.
• Coordinate drawing comments and revisions with Tenant, Leasing, Legal, Marketing and Project teams.
• Maintain and update project documentation, including construction documents, tenant design criteria and technical design criteria.

Required profile

• Thorough knowledge of the Design Criteria Manual and ability to highlight discrepancies.
• Familiarity with multiple municipality building codes and their application to retail developments.
• Experience interpreting shell‑and‑core drawings and translating them into unit‑specific LODs.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce comprehensive drawing checklists and comment sheets.
