Risk Management Specialist - Wastewater & Wet Utilities

About the role

Dorsch Emirates, a German engineering consultancy active in the Middle East for more than thirty-eight years, is looking for an experienced Risk Management Specialist to lead risk and process safety studies on major wastewater and wet utilities projects in the UAE. The role is based in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the identification, assessment and management of project and technical risks across the full project lifecycle.
• Facilitate HAZID, HAZOP and related workshops for wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, sewerage networks and associated infrastructure.
• Plan, chair and facilitate HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA and constructability risk workshops.
• Prepare and maintain project risk registers, risk management plans and action-tracking logs.
• Identify, assess and quantify technical, operational, commercial and schedule risks and recommend mitigation measures.
• Prepare study reports, close-out documentation and risk presentations for clients and senior management.
• Coordinate with design, construction supervision, HSE and operations teams so that risk controls are built into designs and work methods.
• Ensure risk processes comply with client requirements, local authority standards and international frameworks.
• Promote a strong risk-awareness culture across project teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or a similar relevant qualification.
• At least 8+ years of experience, including at least 5 years in risk management on infrastructure or wet utilities projects.
• Proven track record of leading HAZID and HAZOP studies on wastewater treatment, sewerage or water projects.
• Experience with a recognised international engineering consultancy in the UAE or GCC.
• Familiarity with UAE authority requirements and frameworks such as ADSSC/TAQA Water Solutions, Dubai Municipality and Abu Dhabi OSHAD.

Required skills

• HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA and constructability risk studies.
• Excellent facilitation, report-writing and stakeholder communication skills in English.
