Roads Inspector

About the role

AECOM is hiring a Roads Inspector in Al Ain for a large-scale infrastructure development. The inspector inspects and supervises road construction day to day, making sure works follow approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, quality requirements, HSE procedures and authority standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect earthworks, excavation, filling, subgrade, capping, subbase, roadbase and asphalt pavement works.
• Monitor kerbs, interlock paving, footpaths, cycle tracks, road shoulders, medians and associated works.
• Check compliance with approved IFC/shop drawings, specifications, method statements, material approvals and ITPs.
• Witness field and laboratory testing such as compaction, density, levels, thickness, asphalt temperature, coring and pavement testing.
• Verify road alignment, levels, slopes, crossfalls and finished elevations with the Survey Team.
• Inspect asphalt paving operations, from surface preparation and tack/prime coat to laying, joint preparation, compaction and finished surface quality.
• Ensure only approved materials are used and report defective materials or workmanship.
• Raise inspection observations and report non-conforming works immediately to the ARE/RE and QA/QC Team.
• Maintain daily inspection records, checklists, photographs, test results and site reports.
• Coordinate with utility inspectors so underground services and crossings are approved before road layers start.
• Monitor interfaces with stormwater drainage, utilities, street lighting and landscaping, and protect completed works from damage.
• Monitor contractor compliance with traffic management and HSE requirements, and support inspections with the client and authorities.
• Take part in snagging, de-snagging, final inspections, as-built verification and handover.
