Rooms Controller – Luxury Hotel (Dubai)

About the role

The Rooms Controller will work closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations, Revenue, Engineering and other departments to optimise room inventory and anticipate guest preferences. This position is based at Dukes The Palm Dubai Hotel, part of the Colbert Collection, and plays a key part in daily hotel operations.

Key responsibilities

• Review upcoming arrivals, departures, occupancy and room inventory to support effective daily planning.
• Pre‑assign rooms based on guest preferences, availability, operational requirements and special requests.
• Update guest profiles and reservations with accurate information, preferences and arrival times.
• Prepare for group arrivals by reviewing rooming lists, billing instructions and special arrangements.
• Coordinate room readiness with Housekeeping and Engineering, including out‑of‑order and out‑of‑service rooms.
• Monitor room availability and balance categories to maximise occupancy while protecting the guest experience.
• Identify potential inventory challenges or overbooking situations and escalate to senior leaders.
• Support Front Office with room moves, late check‑outs, early arrivals and reservation changes.
• Follow up on alerts, traces and outstanding guest requests with relevant departments.

Required profile

• Minimum two years (24 months) of experience as a Rooms Controller in a luxury hotel with at least 500 keys.
• Proven experience using the Opera property management system.
• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Flexibility to work in shifts.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Pre‑opening experience is an advantage.
