SAP Basis Lead

About the role

Capgemini is seeking an experienced SAP Basis Lead to join its Dubai team within the retail domain. The role involves overseeing SAP system administration, ensuring optimal performance, and guiding a team of developers to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly and monthly BASIS tasks, including system monitoring, analysis and troubleshooting.
• Manage and resolve BASIS issues across ABAP and Java stacks.
• Execute system copy, client copy, kernel patching and support package upgrades.
• Utilise SAP SUM tool for installing Java add‑ons and other upgrades.
• Lead, coordinate and mentor a team of developers, ensuring timely delivery and quality output.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of software development principles.
• Proven leadership experience in a technical environment.
• Experience in the retail sector is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of networks, printer servers, operating systems and disk storage.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of SAP ECC (EHP4 and above), SAP PO and SAP BW.
• Hands‑on experience with ABAP and Java stacks.
• Proficiency in SAP system monitoring and analysis.
• Experience using SAP SUM tool.
• Skills in system copy, client copy, kernel patching and support package upgrades.
