School Librarian

About the role

Rugby School Dubai, which opened in August 2026 and serves pupils from FS1 to Year 13 in the Nad Al Sheba district, is looking for a School Librarian to lead and develop its library provision in the senior school. The role fosters a culture of reading, research and lifelong learning. The school is part of the Aldar Education group.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the school library, including cataloguing, circulation and inventory of resources.
• Promote a positive reading culture through reading programmes, book clubs and literacy activities.
• Support students and teachers in accessing books, digital resources and research materials.
• Teach students effective research, information literacy and responsible use of digital resources.
• Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum and learning activities.
• Organise library events, book fairs, storytelling sessions and reading competitions.
• Maintain a welcoming, safe and well-organised library environment.
• Monitor library usage, keep records and prepare reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, Library Studies, Education or a related field.
• Previous experience in a school library or educational environment.
• Experience organising reading programmes, literacy activities and library events.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of library management, cataloguing and classification systems.
• Proficiency in library management systems, IT and digital learning platforms.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
