Science Community Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Science Community Lead to build and nurture a global community of scientists, researchers, and biotech enthusiasts within a decentralized science ecosystem. Based in the United Arab Emirates and working fully remotely, you will create engaging online spaces where scientific collaboration, discussion, and discovery can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Build, manage, and grow online science communities, primarily on Discord, including channel structure, onboarding flows, bots, and engagement systems.
• Host and facilitate community events such as AMAs, journal clubs, voice discussions, and live online sessions.
• Develop and execute community programming that encourages participation, highlights member research, and fosters cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
• Identify and connect researchers, scientists, and emerging voices to promote knowledge exchange.
• Moderate discussions to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and high‑quality environment.
• Track engagement metrics and experiment with new formats to improve community health.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
• Strong familiarity with online communities, especially Discord, Reddit, and X (Twitter), with prior moderation experience preferred.
• Excellent written communication with a warm, accessible tone.
• Comfortable hosting live events, voice chats, and interactive sessions.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Proactive mindset willing to experiment, iterate, and improve engagement strategies.
• Genuine interest in biotechnology, life sciences, and scientific research communities.
