Secondary Chemistry Teacher (A-Level)

About the role

Safa Community School, an award-winning all-through UK curriculum school from FS1 to Year 13 in Dubai, is looking for a Chemistry Teacher to join its Science department. The successful candidate will teach Chemistry across KS3 and KS4 (including Combined Science where required) and to A-Level, as part of the school's growth to meet rising enrolment and programme demand.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare courses and lessons, set and mark work, and assess, record and report on progress in line with school policy
• Use data to inform teaching, track progress and put timely interventions in place
• Prepare students for GCSE/IGCSE and A-Level exams, including assessment, reporting and exam-related meetings
• Deliver practical work safely, following laboratory risk assessments, COSHH requirements and health and safety policies, and support practical endorsement
• Work with science technicians to plan practical lessons
• Communicate with parents, write reports and attend Parents' Evenings and Open Evenings
• Contribute to departmental meetings, schemes of work and methods of teaching and assessment, and keep up to date with curriculum innovation and CPD
• Support a beginning teacher, cover for absent colleagues, and take responsibility for a designated area of the curriculum or a project such as STEM enrichment or science competitions
• Familiarise yourself with the DSIB inspection framework and support UAE initiatives and cultural expectations

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry or a related science plus a recognised teaching qualification
• Experience teaching Chemistry in British Curriculum schools at both GCSE/IGCSE and A-Level
• Enthusiasm for Chemistry and ability to inspire students
• Understanding of assessment and examination requirements for KS3, KS4 and KS5
• Commitment to a strong practical and inquiry-led approach
• Willingness to develop professionally within or beyond the department
