Senior Accountant

About the role

A client based in Abu Dhabi is looking for an Accountant to handle its day-to-day accounting and financial reporting. The position is on-site and calls for around 10 to 15 years of experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations, keeping records and documentation accurate and complete.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual closing and ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies and financial regulations.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports, analyse performance and variances, monitor cash flow and working capital, and give recommendations to management.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts, compare actual results with budgets, run variance analysis and flag financial risks.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors, strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with reporting standards and statutory requirements.
• Support financial planning, coordinate with other departments and take on additional finance tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional accounting and finance experience, ideally 10-15 years.
• Proven expertise in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and experience managing accounting operations and closing.
• Preferred: ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent certification; experience in the UAE or GCC; knowledge of UAE VAT and corporate tax; Arabic is preferred but not mandatory.

• Advanced MS Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
