Senior Accountant

About the role

A shipping equipment company based in Dubai is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its finance team on site. The role covers the full accounting cycle, from financial reporting to month-end and year-end closing, and supports the Finance Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
• Coordinate the daily activities of the accounting team and support the Finance Manager
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing
• Maintain the general ledger, reconciliations and journal entries
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cost control
• Analyse financial performance and recommend improvements
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements
• Coordinate with external auditors and monitor accounts payable, receivable, fixed assets, inventory and cash flow

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• 5-7 years of experience as a Senior Accountant or similar
• Experience in a medium to large organisation with turnover of around AED 100-150 million or more
• Full exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, cost control and financial analysis
• Experience supervising an accounting team and reporting to a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or equivalent

Required skills

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills
