Senior Accountant - Payables (Bilingual)

About the role

Alef Group, which develops lifestyle communities, destinations and experiences through investment and joint ventures, is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant - Payables (bilingual) to oversee the accounts payable function in its real estate development business in Sharjah. The role ensures accurate, timely and compliant processing of supplier, contractor, consultant and vendor invoices and payments. Immediate joiner preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including receipt, verification, approval, posting and payment of invoices, with three-way matching and accurate ERP recording.
• Handle payables for construction contractors, consultants, architects, authorities, subcontractors and other development service providers, coordinating with project, contract and procurement teams on interim payments, retention, advances and final settlements.
• Reconcile vendor statements and the AP sub-ledger with the general ledger monthly, investigate aged balances and respond to vendor queries.
• Prepare payment proposals and batches, coordinate with Treasury, support cash-flow forecasting and monitor payment due dates.
• Record and validate UAE VAT and classify expenses for UAE Corporate Tax, maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audits.
• Support month-end and year-end closing, accruals, provisions and cut-off of project and operating expenses.
• Produce weekly and monthly AP ageing and liability reports, and project payable reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline; ACCA, CMA or CA preferred.
• Knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT, Corporate Tax and relevant regulations.
• Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience with strong exposure to accounts payable; UAE real estate, construction or property development experience highly preferred.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, Yardi or MRI preferred.

Required skills

• Accounts payable, IFRS, UAE VAT and Corporate Tax, month-end closing and financial controls.
• Strong MS Excel, MS Office and ERP skills.
• Numerical, analytical and reconciliation skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
