Senior Accountant – Payroll & Expense

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant specialized in payroll and expense accounting for a semi‑government organization in Abu Dhabi. The role involves end‑to‑end payroll processing, expense claim management, and financial reconciliations while ensuring compliance with IFRS and UAE labour regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process monthly payroll transactions, validate attendance, bonuses, overtime and deductions.
• Record and reconcile payroll expenses in ERP systems, post salaries, benefits and deductions.
• Prepare payroll‑related accounting entries, accruals and adjustments for month‑end and year‑end closings.
• Process employee expense claims, travel advances and settlements, ensuring correct cost‑center and project allocation.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of payroll control accounts, employee advances and expense ledgers.
• Collaborate with HR, Treasury, Finance, Tax and Compliance teams on payroll, expense and VAT matters.
• Support ERP enhancement and automation initiatives within payroll and expense modules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; MBA or master’s preferred.
• Professional certification such as CFA, CMA, ACCA or CPA is a plus.
• Proven experience in end‑to‑end payroll processing and expense accounting in the UAE, with knowledge of WPS regulations and IFRS.
• Ability to work onsite in the United Arab Emirates and availability within 30 days.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for payroll and expense modules.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, UAE labour law and Delegation of Authority compliance.
