Senior Accountant – Shipping

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands‑on Senior Accountant to join the finance team of an established shipping and chartering business in Dubai. You will work closely with the Finance Manager, own core accounting processes and provide clear visibility of the company’s financial position on a weekly and monthly basis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day accounting tasks, including transaction review, journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review weekly financial reports and monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Maintain balance‑sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies and ensure proper reconciliation.
• Monitor cash flow, payment plans, payables and receivables, escalating potential issues.
• Oversee shipping and voyage accounting, reconciling revenues, costs and accruals with operational data.
• Supervise a team of junior accountants, reviewing their work and ensuring internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or CA preferred.
• Solid hands‑on accounting experience in the shipping or maritime industry, preferably dry‑bulk or tanker.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting, general ledger management, month‑end closing and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Experience preparing weekly and monthly financial reports and monitoring cash flow.
• Previous experience supervising junior accounting staff.
