Senior Android Developer (Kotlin) - Remote

About the role

A partner company, listed on behalf of Jobgether, is looking for a Senior Android Developer (Kotlin) based in the United Arab Emirates. The role is fully remote and sits within an international team that builds and enhances native Android applications with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusive design. The developer uses Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Android Views to deliver reliable, high-performing mobile experiences, and plays a key part in implementing accessibility features, improving navigation and optimising interactions with assistive technologies such as TalkBack.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain native Android applications in Kotlin, adding new features and improving existing ones.
• Build and improve app components with Jetpack Compose and/or Android Views, keeping stability, performance, maintainability and code quality high.
• Implement and optimise accessibility features, including TalkBack compatibility, content descriptions, accessibility roles and states, and focus management.
• Support scalable text, accessible font sizes, optimised touch targets and accessible navigation.
• Run accessibility testing with TalkBack and validate implementations against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 guidelines.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience in native Android development.
• Extensive hands-on experience implementing accessibility features in Android apps, including TalkBack, content descriptions, roles and states, and focus management.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards, ideally WCAG 2.1 and 2.2.
• Good English and the ability to collaborate in an international team.

Required skills

• Strong practical Kotlin skills.
• Commercial experience with Jetpack Compose and/or Android Views.
• Experience with Android Accessibility APIs and/or Compose Semantics.
