Senior Software Engineer - Java Full Stack

About the role

Emirates is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Java Full Stack to join its IT team in Dubai. The engineer is a fully participating member of an agile feature team, working independently on software development and problem resolution, covering technical design, development, implementation and maintenance of software supporting the Emirates Group business.

Key responsibilities

• Work with senior technical engineers in the technical design process and analyse application requirements.
• Convert technical solutions for small to medium initiatives into low-level design and working code.
• Write secure, optimised code following Emirates Group approved coding standards.
• Take part in rotational on-call support and resolve production issues within SLAs with minimal supervision.
• Ensure 100% unit testing in the CI/CD pipeline, fix defects with minimal rework and adopt refactoring practices.
• Implement logging and monitoring hooks, keep up with new technologies and contribute to engineering playbooks and standards.

Required profile

• Degree or honours (12+3 or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of backend application development experience, primarily in Java (8+) with microservices.
• Experience building complex software for large organisations with an API-first approach, and production support using ITIL.
• Deep full-stack development experience, including technology evaluation, vendor selection and DevOps/platform management.
• Experience with advanced agentic AI practices.
