Senior Aviation Medical Examiner

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner to join Etihad Airways’ Medical Centre in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering specialised aviation medical services to air crew, ensuring compliance with HAAD and civil aviation regulations and supporting the safety of flight operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialised medical assessments and determine fit‑to‑fly status in line with HAAD and GCAA regulations.
• Respond to medical emergencies within the Medical Centre, delivering immediate care to patients.
• Participate in service review, planning and operational efficiency initiatives for the Medical Centre.
• Conduct medical audits and ensure licensing compliance with health and aviation authorities.
• Collect, analyse and report data on specialist services to senior management.
• Assist in developing policies, procedures and directives for aviation and preventive medicine.
• Design clinical care pathways with partner healthcare providers to ensure seamless crew services.
• Provide general medicine consultations as required.

Required profile

• Medical degree (minimum 2‑year diploma) with a postgraduate qualification in Aviation Medicine recognised by the Abu Dhabi Health Authority.
• HAAD licence to practise in the aviation medicine specialty.
• At least 10 years of relevant medical experience, including a minimum of 5 years in aviation medicine.
• Strong knowledge of HAAD and GCAA regulations and standards.
