Senior Buyer – Sports

About the role

The Senior Buyer – Sports will lead the end‑to‑end buying process for the sports business unit, ensuring product selections align with market trends, consumer preferences and GMG’s strategic goals. The role works closely with the Category Manager and cross‑functional teams, using SAP and Power BI to drive data‑based decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead product selection and procurement for assigned sports categories, building assortments that support brand positioning.
• Conduct market and competitor research to identify trends, consumer behavior and new opportunities.
• Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers, including cost, payment, rebates and delivery conditions.
• Manage purchase order placement, tracking and follow‑up to ensure on‑time, in‑full deliveries.
• Use SAP, Power BI and Excel to analyse sales, stock and purchasing data, monitor inventory and forecast requirements.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Allocation and Logistics to maintain healthy stock levels and resolve supply‑chain issues.
• Monitor purchasing performance against budgets, recommending rebuys, cancellations, rephasing or markdown support.
• Assess supplier performance, maintain relationships and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management (Master’s advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience and 3 years in retail buying, preferably in sports.
• Proven experience with inventory management and retail buying cycles.
• Strong analytical abilities and detail‑orientation under pressure.

Required skills

• SAP (ERP) proficiency.
• Power BI expertise.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Procurement certification.
