Senior Charge Nurse / Unit Manager – Nursing Quality

About the role

The Senior Charge Nurse/Unit Manager – Nursing Quality leads one or more patient‑care units at SSMC, ensuring 24/7 delivery of safe, compassionate, and high‑quality nursing services. The role translates the hospital’s vision, mission and values into operational excellence, overseeing staff, budget and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and evaluate operational, fiscal and personnel activities for assigned units.
• Manage the total work‑unit budget and allocate resources efficiently.
• Promote shared decision‑making and collaborate with dyad/triad partners, senior nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams.
• Collect and analyse data on unit performance, identify trends and develop improvement strategies.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary healthcare resources to achieve expected outcomes.
• Provide consultation, education and health‑promotion initiatives to staff and patients.
• Ensure compliance with nursing standards, ethical provisions and research findings.
• Lead staff performance management, including evaluations, goal setting and development.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with extensive clinical experience.
• Proven leadership experience in a nursing management or charge nurse role.
• Strong understanding of nursing quality standards and healthcare administration.
• Ability to analyse data, develop strategic plans and manage budgets.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills with multidisciplinary teams.
